The video I saw of the collision showed crew members out on the bow of the coast guard vessel hanging a fender over the bow, seconds before the bow just disappeared.
I hope they’re okay, but I saw a post showing tracking data of a number of Chinese vessels doing a search pattern, so I don’t think they were.

They’re most likely pulp.
The amount of crush on the bow, coupled with the size of the hole in the other ship… Yeah not much hospitable place for a squishy human to be.
Hopefully some of those Chinese sailors got hurt or died. No sympathy for authoritarian bullies. We have enough people in this world without fretting over the safety and security of jackboot thugs.
Celebrating other people’s death is always a bit awful but these chinese sailors are violating the sovereignity of another country for their own nations imperial ambitions.
They’re just as bad as ruzzians.

Didn’t read the whole article because I’ve been watching this story and the facts seem to all align.
Tarriela said the Chinese crew did not respond to the Philippine ship’s offer of assistance.
Despite being attacked in the open ocean, international waters, the Filipinos still offered assistance. That’s the law of the sea. That’s gotta be tough enough.
My wife’s Filipino, and the more them I meet, see on the internet, all that, I fucking love those people. We may well retire there. Won’t have any money but my social security, but I think we can get by. And no way her family let’s us rot on the beach. Solid families, solid people.

Humans have survived wilder shit. One never knows. If they were crippled and try to hang in the open ocean? Magic 8 Ball says, “Don’t count on it.”
How nice of you

They were hanging out a fender.
Unbelievable.
Is this the so amazing chinese navy the botniks tell us about everywhere?
Huh. The front fell off.
Always good for a laugh that one
