Imagine being so confused you need to travel to a foreign country to attend a rally against foreigners…

WhatAmLemmy@lemmy.world on 17 Nov 09:08 collapse

They don’t view themselves as foreigners. They view themselves as the masters, and supreme authority, everywhere.

OttoVonNoob@lemmy.ca on 17 Nov 09:24 next collapse

I wish this was the case everywhere. We had a controversy maybe 6 years back where Canadian Citizens of Taiwanese lineage were attacked by Chineese international students at the university they all attended for protesting the annexation of Hong Kong. At the time this was huge but im pretty sure it was swept under the rug as international students are a massive market here.

NSW = New South Wales

Also, fuck this guy for having or supporting the wrong ideas.

We need to make an example of him to intimidate anyone who might want to believe things the crowd doesn’t approve of.

TrickDacy@lemmy.world on 17 Nov 11:55 next collapse

Are you actually standing up for a neo Nazi?

When those ideas support hatred and division, absolutely fuck those people who align themselves with that.

Fuck Nazis, all the way to hell.

frunch@lemmy.world on 17 Nov 12:58 next collapse

What kind of things was this guy believing that set the crowd off?

prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone on 17 Nov 13:38 next collapse

And what things, specifically, were they? I think that’s pretty important, no?

Exactly. Cancelling visas is an atrocity when it’s people or ideas we like, but it’s laudable and warranted when it’s people or ideas we don’t.

SereneSadie@lemmy.myserv.one on 18 Nov 08:07 collapse

Yeah, because shock-horror, refusing to abide by the basic culture of a country you don’t belong to means they have every right to kick your racist ass out.

You are not entitled to go to another nation and soapbox bigotry.

hakase@lemmy.zip on 18 Nov 21:40 collapse

“The right of free speech is only granted to those with mainstream ideas we already agree with.”

Got it. That’s a pretty messed up take, imo.

ohulancutash@feddit.uk on 18 Nov 07:54 next collapse

Australia used to hand out medals for shooting people like him. Swings and roundabouts.

SereneSadie@lemmy.myserv.one on 18 Nov 08:06 collapse

America is giving people like him jobs in the government. The UK is giving them spots in opposition parties.

Glass houses.

Getting multiple reports on this comment for a variety of reasons, I’m leaving it as I think people are reading more into the comment than is actually there.

“Make an example of him” is not a call to violence. Publicly pulling his visa is, indeed, making an example of him.

I’m also not sure how you construe this as supporting a neo nazi unless you assume OP is being sarcastic when they say “fuck this guy for having or supporting the wrong ideas” and “intimidate anyone who might want to believe things the crowd doesn’t approve of.”

This is right inline with the American notion of “Make Racists Afraid Again” which has been bouncing around since Trump 45 at least.

It does kinda read as sarcastic

Please let it be Musk

It alright. Trump will welcome this persecuted white guy with open arms.

mossad at work? state sponsored crowd work?

i hve no issues with the comeuppance, just trying to figure out what sequence of events led to African govt knowing that some rando shitzi was demonstrating in another country. like, are they watching every crowd at every event in every country? just weird.

Woht24@lemmy.world on 18 Nov 07:02 collapse

The Australian government cancelled his visa and deported him to South Africa, I believe it was.

Don’t worry to much I’m sure he’ll be able to apply for refugee status in the USA.

Agreed, that’s where we send the trash
