Is there supposed to be a joke here?

Nobody says that message in the 2nd panel, right?

Nobody says that message in the 2nd panel, right?

I’m guessing it’s been said a lot. Something like, “You shouldn’t care about animals suffering when there are humans suffering.” That sort of BS.

TaterTot@piefed.social on 30 Dec 2025 03:16 next collapse

They do indeed, though usually not in such a manner to set up an easy retort.

theuniqueone@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 30 Dec 2025 03:31 next collapse

It’s usually framed as criticizing vegans for focusing on animals at all when any human is experiencing injustice as if you can’t oppose both.

UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world on 30 Dec 2025 03:33 collapse

“You hateful monster, don’t you realize that if I can’t have burger I literally die?!” is a thing I see hysterical carnivore diet folks twist themselves into knots asserting.

I have no idea what they’re going to do as the cost of industrial animal products continues to climb. But cannibalism appears to be on the table, so to speak.

Triumph@fedia.io on 30 Dec 2025 03:49 next collapse

They're made out of meat.

SatyrSack@quokk.au on 30 Dec 2025 06:30 next collapse

Thinking meat?

Triumph@fedia.io on 30 Dec 2025 06:54 collapse

Who wants to meet meat?

NachBarcelona@piefed.social on 30 Dec 2025 13:38 collapse

Does that make mutually consensual consumption (e.g. of someone’s amputated leg) non-vegan?

Trying2KnowMyself@lemmy.ml on 30 Dec 2025 04:20 next collapse

IMO exceptions are sometimes necessary.

Eat the rich.

veganpizza69@lemmy.vg on 30 Dec 2025 12:04 next collapse

Composting will do.

Trying2KnowMyself@lemmy.ml on 30 Dec 2025 12:25 collapse

I was going to question whether that might ruin the soil composition and leave the land barren, but the logical conclusion would then be that they’re also not safe to eat <img alt="honk-enraged" src="https://lemmy.ml/api/v3/image_proxy?url=https%3A%2F%2Fhexbear.net%2Fpictrs%2Fimage%2F6495a078-0004-4557-952a-0b96269179e6.png">

Yeah, you gotta let the small ones and the fungi deal with that. And there needs to be a lot of fibrous plant mass.

Whats_your_reasoning@lemmy.world on 30 Dec 2025 18:08 collapse

I don’t eat beings with feelings. The rich have done nothing to prove they can feel like other animals can.

So yes, the exception holds.

Trying2KnowMyself@lemmy.ml on 30 Dec 2025 18:53 collapse

Is greed a feeling? Contempt?

als@lemmy.blahaj.zone on 30 Dec 2025 08:38 next collapse

Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works on 30 Dec 2025 19:23 collapse

So Vegans just think “respect” means “not eating them”. Got it! Thank you for the lesson!
