The guide in question. I kind of expected affiliate link spam going into it, but there are no affiliate links, and it’s genuinely well-considered. The “well, technically…” bonus at the end caught me way off-guard.

NOTE: This is not an endorsement of that section; I just thought it was really funny for how blunt it is.

If anyone knows a good, reliable way to get it in bulk not presented in the guide, I’d love to hear about it. I’ve seen people recommend WinCo a lot, but that isn’t an option for a lot of people.

Well, you still pay for whatever item you’re labeling it as. You just label it as something cheaper and then pay for that.

Did something similar once with in-shell pistachios vs shelled pistachios.

Shelled pistachios are much more expensive, because they take more labor and because you’re not paying for all the inedible shells.

But … when you ring up the shelled pistachios, it rings up as “shelled pistachios”. And when you ring up the in-shell pistachios, it rings up as just “pistachios”. It would take an extremely knowledgeable and diligent cashier to notice the difference, and they’re not getting cashiers like that at the wages they’re paying. (And even if they did notice, I’d just claim to have been confused and written down the wrong number by accident.)
