How can I prevent sonarr + prowlarr to needlessly search multiple languages?

The screenshot is from my prowlarr history. It sometimes takes forever and is wasting my bandwidth and potentially counting more towards request limits (not sure if there are any atm, but there could be). Can somebody please help me disable this “feature”? I have searched without success.

How much did you search? Because the results are pretty unambiguous, you set a custom format profile.

moriquende@lemmy.world on 04 Nov 23:16 collapse

I have custom formats in my profiles, and nowhere there did I see any option to prevent titles in multiple languages being searched. Could you please be more specific as to where exactly I can find that setting?

I have the exact other problem

I would like to search for 2 languages (one preferred), but and can’t work it out…

If you find a solution to your problem somewhere, please give the link/info as well, maybe it helps me…

I tried the trash guides ( trash-guides.info ), but it seems I’ve done something wrong. Maybe it helps you

This was the guide with the custom language:

Ditto. I just farted to look into this yesterday and found the trash guides. It was pretty incomprehensible and I gave up. I hope to come back to this thread later and see that someone has explained how to set this up simply.

I just farted

I can actually help ya out with this. Not sure why Sonarr no longer let’s you select the language profile (it used to).

For adding extra requirement (eg language, group, etc) you need to set up a custom format, give it a score/weight in your profile(s) and then set the minimum score required to get you what you want.

Custom format

<img alt="" src="https://sh.itjust.works/pictrs/image/b01be0a1-9b59-41dc-a63d-b1a6d022c445.png">

Add a language format

<img alt="" src="https://sh.itjust.works/pictrs/image/0dabc16c-0886-4bf3-80e8-2537b19b0cc3.png">

Then add the language condition and pick the language you want. You can add multiple conditions

<img alt="" src="https://sh.itjust.works/pictrs/image/156720a6-c59c-4554-95ad-d08e4aee407c.png">

Then go to your profiles and add weighting and requirement to each profile

I cannot for the life of me figure out the formatting. I’m so sorry lol

Wow, thank you so much!!
I spent quite some time on this and gave up frustrated…

Last few years i had to completely redo my setup (migrated to proxmox) but i got to do it slowly and methodically. I got to know a lot of the arr stack very well and with some really good proper tweaking you can get an almost 100% automatic, no user interaction required setup.

naeap@sopuli.xyz on 05 Nov 22:05 collapse

Yeah, I’m already very happy with my setup
Even my wife can use it with apps and so on

So, the only thing was the language stuff.

If that really fixes it, I’m more than satisfied :-)

I mean i have no idea how to stop Prowlarr from processing shit it doesn’t need to like extra languages. This is a work around that can also be used to weight other shit so i figured it would be a good share.

Do you perhaps have a non-English system language?

Radarr has settings in each quality profile to select a release language, but Sonarr does not… Wondering if it’s tied to system language instead.

I do not see this issue: titles search in English only. (including the example series ‘The Penguin’)

moriquende@lemmy.world on 05 Nov 08:11 collapse

No, my system language is set to English. If it’s working like that for you, then there must be some misconfiguration on my part… But I never specified anything regarding languages.
