What OS does the Batcomputer use?

I’m not sure if this is the best place to ask but it’s the first that came to mind. I’m thinking it’s probably something completly custom that Bruce made but I like thinking that Batman is a Linux user. specify Arch

BatOS obvs

db2@lemmy.world on 23 Nov 01:17 collapse

GuanOS

FriendOfDeSoto@startrek.website on 23 Nov 02:15 collapse

That release was batshit if you ask me.

Deconceptualist@leminal.space on 23 Nov 07:03 collapse

But at least it was easy to launch from the command line using startup.bat.

I would guess the Batcave uses something proprietary based off of Wayne tech because he’s very paranoid. I’d also imagine it integrates some watch tower tech which is likely mostly from Cyborg

SatyrSack@quokk.au on 23 Nov 03:01 next collapse

A proprietary BSD derivative

felbane@lemmy.world on 25 Nov 08:25 collapse

Bat Software Distribution

scytale@piefed.zip on 23 Nov 04:00 next collapse

Definitely some Palantir-level proprietary software.

actionjbone@sh.itjust.works on 23 Nov 04:23 collapse

No, he’d probably use something made by a reputable company.

QNX. Batman does not abide service interruptions or system instability.

radix@lemmy.world on 23 Nov 02:15 next collapse

I imagine at least one modern version of the origin of the Wayne family fortune is through the tech industry. So clearly it would run Wayne-dows.

postmateDumbass@lemmy.world on 23 Nov 04:08 next collapse

The terminals maybe, but the server would be a Wayneframe.

actionjbone@sh.itjust.works on 23 Nov 04:23 collapse

Maybe at the office, but for real security in the batcave? He’d be on Waynux

Kolanaki@pawb.social on 23 Nov 02:17 next collapse

Either a custom “BatOS,” or, more likely, something branded under WayneTech. Which, in my mind, either way would be a weird, unholy, but utterly fantastical combination of Linux, Windows and MacOS.

Because it’s a comic book and would show off whatever element of those systems it needs to in the moment for exposition or a gag.

the_q@lemmy.zip on 23 Nov 03:17 next collapse

HyperDOS or Mandrake.

southsamurai@sh.itjust.works on 23 Nov 04:25 next collapse

Ahhhh, iirc, it’s one he built himself.

It’s actually come up in comics before, more than once if my mind isn’t playing tricks.

I don’t doubt that he would have at least taken lessons from open source type projects if Linux doesn’t directly exist in the comic universe.

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world on 23 Nov 05:17 next collapse

Hannah Montana, like all crimefighters

hperrin@lemmy.ca on 23 Nov 05:43 next collapse

It’s a Unix system. I know this.

thirdBreakfast@lemmy.world on 23 Nov 08:20 collapse

Batocera surely?

squaresinger@lemmy.world on 23 Nov 09:21 next collapse

For the German speakers under us: Wayne interessierts…

(As an explanation: Wayne sounds very close to the German “wen”, meaning roughly “who”. So that’s a common joke phrase in German and means “Who cares?”)

spacemanspiffy@lemmy.world on 23 Nov 13:42 next collapse

Unfortunately it it probably Windows, just so he can run .bat scripts.

GrayBackgroundMusic@lemmy.zip on 23 Nov 15:14 collapse

Perfect, Dad. Thank you.

VinesNFluff@pawb.social on 23 Nov 15:15 next collapse

Well, according to one really bad video game, it’s a late 90s mac.

remon@ani.social on 25 Nov 08:27 collapse

but I like thinking that Batman is a Linux user. specify Arch

Nope, we can rule that out. Batman would have told us about it by now.
