Moths come from eggs, which are similar to beans, so… I have no idea.

SidewaysHighways@lemmy.world on 11 Jun 13:52 next collapse

big if true

If a moth wore jeans, would they wear them like this or like this? [the images are left to the reader’s imagination]

elevenbones@piefed.social on 14 Jun 00:04 collapse

I dont get it... How tf does Linux figure into all this? 🤷‍♀️

FeelzGoodMan420@eviltoast.org on 11 Jun 11:11 next collapse

Nothing. Just more unfunny shitpost bandwagon trends.

Bizarre questions like this make me more confident my blocklist is working

Aarrodri@lemmy.world on 11 Jun 15:02 collapse

You missing out😁

schnurrito@discuss.tchncs.de on 11 Jun 11:39 next collapse

You shouldn’t ask these kinds of questions under the assumption that anyone knows what you’re talking about.

cecilkorik@lemmy.ca on 11 Jun 14:03 collapse

Reddit had a community “OutOfTheLoop” for these type of questions. It was very helpful for people like me who do our best to ignore these nonsense viral image macros that get blown out of proportion. The problem on Lemmy is, judging by the comments here, I think almost everyone here avoids those things like the plague, so there’s few if anyone “InTheLoop” around to explain for us.

schnurrito@discuss.tchncs.de on 11 Jun 14:21 collapse

FWIW we have !outoftheloop@lemmy.world here too

cecilkorik@lemmy.ca on 11 Jun 15:48 collapse

That’s awesome thanks! (Community discovery is still something I struggle with on Lemmy)

Sidyctism2@discuss.tchncs.de on 11 Jun 11:52 next collapse

its an older meme, but it checks out

For the safety of every moth in this community, turn you phone brightness down.

Its the only moral choice

Mothra@mander.xyz on 11 Jun 13:38 next collapse

What? That was so last week. The new trend is animals wearing human suits to avoid detection

kambusha@sh.itjust.works on 11 Jun 14:13 next collapse

Isn’t it moth pride?

southsamurai@sh.itjust.works on 11 Jun 16:48 next collapse

That’s just what a lamp would ask!

Seriously though, it’s a meme thing. It goes in cycles. Sometimes it’s beans. Sometimes it’s Gowron (glory to the empire!). Sometimes it’s people posting about how southsamurai has the most epic beard on the planet. Sometimes it’s moths.

Kolanaki@pawb.social on 11 Jun 17:46 next collapse

We’ve evolved beyond beans.

Thavron@lemmy.ca on 11 Jun 18:58 next collapse

I guess they’re attractive.

dukeofdummies@lemmy.world on 13 Jun 23:10 next collapse

Oh it’s a classic meme.

Basically it was this one moth that uncharacteristically posed for a photo outside a window, then it kinda morphed into a “transform any meme into one about lamps” and add the moth.

Dunno if you have moths or not where you live, but moths LOVE light. They usually smash up against your window or porch light or fly at your face in a well lit place. Terrible for anyone who hates bugs, which just adds to the humor. Adding a mostly annoying bug to your feed.

It’s the same idea where the saying “like a moth to the flame” came from. The idea being the moth flew into the candle and gets burned. You’re going straight into something bad, but you just can’t help yourself.

elevenbones@piefed.social on 14 Jun 00:02 collapse

not enough tbh. I do remember back in 2018 ppl were making lots of moth and lamp memes and it was wonderfully delicious.
