Your question makes no sense.

No, you’re not viewed as terrorists. You’re viewed as allies that will get dragged into a war on our side if we get attacked by Russia.

Valmond@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 13 Mar 08:40 next collapse

That is not true though because they will not come to our aid, they clearly stated that.

zxqwas@lemmy.world on 13 Mar 08:59 collapse

Trump clearly threatened not to come to aid of NATO countries that don’t spend the agreed % of GDP. If he did not intend to come to aid of any NATO country he would leave the alliance.

cosmicrookie@lemmy.world on 13 Mar 09:42 next collapse

To many it seems that he is set to destroy NATO not by leaving it but by showing that he won’t get involved in the agreements made

greyscale@lemmy.sdf.org on 13 Mar 14:04 collapse

If it isn’t a 100% guaranteed non-negotiable that they WILL aid their global partners, that it might be conditional, means that it cannot be assumed to be there, and is no longer dependable. It’d just be an ally piling in at best, if we’re lucky and the current goomba-in-chief is a friendly one.

Its an absolute loss of soft power.

a war on our side if we get attacked by Russia

You must have been in a coma for the last year or so. USA under Trump is more likely to attack Greenland than to help Europe fighting Russia.

zxqwas@lemmy.world on 13 Mar 09:12 collapse

Trump taco. He did not move any troops or metal towards greenland. When he does not move troops he does not intend to attack, he intends to move the opinion.

My guess why he did that (greenland and threaten to not aid NATO): He wanted to push the European opinion towards “fuck you we will spend more on our own military”.

The opinion of every US administration the last decades, Obama, Biden, Trump has been that Europe should spend more on defense instead of relying on US. Trump achieves this goal by being obnoxious and hated and ironically the complete lack of diplomatic skill.

hitmyspot@aussie.zone on 13 Mar 10:01 next collapse

Stop attributing tactical thinking to trump. It’s clearly not in his ouvre. If Trump wanted NATO to be better prepared for a Russian advance, he wouldn’t be undermining zelensjynor sucking outings cock on the regular

He’s obnoxious because he’s an obnoxious narcissist. There is no point to it.

zxqwas@lemmy.world on 13 Mar 10:33 collapse

This is not Trump thinking. This is done by career bureaucrats in the pentagon that are not political appointees.

They publish documents of US Defense policy every few years. Basically saying that China and Taiwan is the most important issue for US. Europe should spend the money to defend Europe so that US can focus on east Asia. The contents have gone largely unchanged for the last few administrations.

For whatever reason you want to give for Trumps actions are in line with what the documents say. Venezuela and Iran are minor players that support China. Europe is spending more on defense than ever before.

The difference with Trump vs Biden is Trump seems more likely to take risks by kidnapping Maduro, bombing Iran, pissing off Europe.

hitmyspot@aussie.zone on 13 Mar 10:53 collapse

US policy was also to have witnesses to any meetings with Putin. And to not store classified documents in a bathroom at a hotel of ill repute.

Trump is not playing 5D chess to advance America’s interests. He’s shitting on the board while squalking. The only interest he has any mind to advance is his own. There is not an ounce of patriotism or duty in his body.

Uruanna@lemmy.world on 13 Mar 10:39 next collapse

The opinion of every US administration the last decades, Obama, Biden, Trump has been that Europe should spend more on defense instead of relying on US.

The US makes weapons, sell weapons, and controls the countries they sell those weapons to. Trump doesn’t get any of that and broke the control that US had on everyone. He’s the reason countries suddenly started getting worried that the US could turn off the planes they sold them whenever they wanted. The US has bases in every country, and Trump is the reason people are suddenly getting worried about them.

When they used to say Europe should spend more, it’s by buying American.

FelixCress@lemmy.world on 13 Mar 11:23 collapse

Trump taco.

He attacked Venezuela and Iran, so there is that 🙄

The opinion of every US administration the last decades, Obama, Biden, Trump has been that Europe should spend more on defense instead of relying on US

Yes, but only the very last one sided with Russia against democratic countries. And explicitly said they would want to dismantle EU.

zxqwas@lemmy.world on 13 Mar 12:04 collapse

He moved metal and troops into position. He did not start moving anything towards greenland.

FelixCress@lemmy.world on 13 Mar 13:28 collapse

Your point is?

zxqwas@lemmy.world on 13 Mar 14:01 collapse

Your retort to my taco reply was that he did Venezuela and Iran.

You can figure out when he is doing a taco and when he is actually threatening a war. Greenland rhetoric was not accompanied by troop movement.

FelixCress@lemmy.world on 13 Mar 15:14 collapse

I don’t know if you are an idiot or just very good at pretending.

FelixCress@lemmy.world on 13 Mar 08:58 next collapse

Terrorists? No. But I wouldn’t consider you allies at this point.

greyscale@lemmy.sdf.org on 13 Mar 15:38 collapse

If we look at what is happening in Iran right now, its hard NOT to label the American Government as terrorist.

They’re running a parallel campaign of domestic terror too. They have deathcamps. We’ve seen this coming for a long time too.

gazter@aussie.zone on 13 Mar 09:19 next collapse

All I know is that the US building a secret submarine base at Pine Gap in Alice Springs was a genius move.

greyscale@lemmy.sdf.org on 13 Mar 10:39 next collapse

I see it as an aggressor nation keeping its weapons on-site to threaten the locals in the name of defending them. I want them gone.

It brings me great shame seeing UK airbases being used to load US bombs into US bombers to drop on brown people that have never hurt me.

Ya’ll a bunch of dumbfucks that voted for the maximum ratfuckery and we have to just deal with your dumb shit for 4 years at a time. I don’t think we should be allowing the use of these facilities until such a time as the US institutions have cleaned house.

Patnou@lemmy.world on 13 Mar 15:24 next collapse

The old me would have ripped you a new asshole. But un freaking fortunately you are right. But of course I believe in Super Heroes to. But if I have a kid and they want to be president I will have them committed jk

greyscale@lemmy.sdf.org on 13 Mar 15:36 collapse

I bet the old you expected the 2A people to like… go defend their nation too.

I’m so sorry that we’re living through our reality, I’d rather be reading about it after its over.

scarabic@lemmy.world on 13 Mar 16:27 collapse

Please get your leaders to force US bases out. If you actually want to do something that’s in your own power, that’s it.

Patnou@lemmy.world on 13 Mar 15:29 collapse

When I wrote this I was on layover with about a couple shots of liquid cocaine and many ice teas in me with a bunch of xanax. I just landed. So yea you do that after getting of a 72 hour shift, drink because your afraid of flying and don’t want to cause a incedent you would write the same. Or I can try to southernize it for you.
