Hi folks, New here, hope i am not breaking any silent rule idk about. I am looking for a service for a VOIP number. I usually use hushed but they stopped their lifetime offer and i can’t find a solid replacement. Any advise is welcome. Note that i can’t care less that lifetime is not lifetime, but more a one time payment to keep certain number

Edit: I will go for Mysudo folks.

You are going to need to say what country you are from. Because voip providers that I know of in Australia likely won’t help you if you aren’t in Australia.

noted on that. I can provide id from China, Germany, France and Laos. and social security or residency proof from states, Philippines and Thailand. I was first thinking of a dumb esim at a super low-cost monthly price that i keep in a dumb phone, but that stay a monthly fee.

I just learned about one but I forget what it was called. It was like a Google voice replacement.

I’ll have to try and find itin Lemmy and then edit my comment.

EDIT: jmp.chat

This looks cool, but it’s a $5 monthly fee, not a lump sum like OP is looking for.

Thanks for your answer. I will check that out. But yes at first sight it’s a monthly fee, which i try to avoid. Therefore to be honest we all know lifetime deal are nothing else than a one time monthly fee to unknown time

That’s true, but JMP holds a balance. So you could put a bunch of money into it and then forget about that for a while and it’ll truck along until you run low. If you feel like that’s similar enough.

What happened with hushed? Did they cancel your lines or change them to monthly?

Naas@lemmy.world on 12 Sep 16:21 collapse

nah i hold many lines and nothing happened yet, even if i suspect something will happen soon. They simply canceled all lifetime deals. I am a pentester and i like to use those for OSINT this kinda. Not a big guy or anything, just trying my best to be informed and do my job. For what it’s worth, I never did anything illegal.

I used Hushed as a giveaway phone number (food delivery, new account sign up, etc.) and was fine with it until it wasn’t cost effective anymore.

Most of my friends still use Burner app but if you’re interested in keeping the same phone number, look into MySudo.

Naas@lemmy.world on 13 Sep 07:01 collapse

Noted on that. I will pass for Burner as they do not have a clear pricing policy upon preliminary research. Looking into Mysudo tho. thanks 🙏

If you’re in USA, Canada, Australia or UK, check out MySudo.

They have three different plans starting at $19.99 USD (year) for one VOIP phone number; when my subscription expires, I plan on renewing and possibly upgrading.

There’s a Free version but it’s just email and no phone number. They’re cheaper than Hushed and more reliable.

Avoid TextNow, it works fine until you need it or expecting something important (voicemail or text) and that’s when they lock you out until you pay up.

NOTE: I didn’t read the fine print or ToS for MySudo UK so I don’t know what they need from you if you sign up.

EDIT added link for TextNow www.textnow.com/wireless

noted for Mysudo. I am checking it out. Yeah TextNow i knew it before already. To me it’s obvious, this kijda marketing can onky come with the orice to be a dick
