When I was young I was living in Japan and was looking at a notice board for language exchange partners in a local “international building”. I saw a cute girl and smiled at her, neither of us said anything and then I decided to start heading home. So I left the building and walked to the subway station, and I saw the same girl across the street at the other entrance of the subway station, and thought nothing of it. I decided that since it was nice outside I would walk up and over the mountain instead of taking the subway to get back home. I’d say it was a brisk 45-60 minute walk with a pretty steep incline and decline. When I passed the next subway station near home I was really surprised to hear a girl’s voice calling out in Japanese. It was the same girl who was coming out of the subway station and ran up to me a little out of breath and said she saw me at the international house and she was visiting some friends in the neighbourhood. One thing led to another and we ended up dating for a few years, and at some point she told me that she’d actually followed me up and over the mountain in her high heels, and had trouble keeping up because I’m tall and a fast walker. So she was running, went down into the subway station on the far side of the road and ran through it and up and out the entrance on my side to pretend like she just got off the subway. Since everything worked out it was more charming than unnerving
