What would you do to pass the time during an extended lock in period from weather or diaster where you had to stay at home?

Work, probably. Working from home is fun.

If I had power and internet, I’d play the Steam Deck and shitpost on Lemmy probably.

If I don’t, sing songs, sleep, read under a flashlight, listen to a battery powered radio, eat a snack, chat with folks at home and neighbours, etc. Get a sense of how long this will go on for, to see if I need to make or execute a survival plan.

I actually do one blackout day a year. Its fun, candles, simple meal, maybe make a fort, put down the phone to “save battery”.

I used to do it on big storm days basically in case the power actually went out I was ready but I no longer live somewhere that loses power so much. So now its just for fun and you can still eat your stuff in your fridge and turn on the lights at the end.

I have a lot of these old school storage devices that consist of thin sheets of dead tree material with writing chemically imprinted on them. They work without power or internet, so that’s nice. Yes, I’m old.

So much unread fiction sits on my shelves. I got it on sale and have since paid to move it from one coast to the other and back. I welcome the lockdown where I’d get to read all day. Bonus if the rules say I couldn’t leave the building but the roof is still accessible.

The void is always calling for me and I am shockingly comfortable staring into its nothing for extended periods of time.

Indoor badminton? Assume it has to be indoors

Backyard badminton. Had just enough grass area for half a court. Just hit to hit,  rather than games
