Are you intending to save the old data?

If not than it should be as simple as deleting the old partition

sopularity_fax@sopuli.xyz on 12 Sep 19:17 collapse

So it can be overwritten even if its encrypted?

Yep, unless it’s some crazy hardware level encryption, probably not though. Assuming you’re not worried about the data and just want to reuse the drive, just delete the partition(s) and reformat it.

I dont care i just want space for new stuff I am quickly running out of disk space for

Heard that!

Earlier this year I was owed $20 for a data recovery, but instead of paying me, they gave me two 4TB hard drives and a 2TB hard drive, all in perfect working order.

Needless to say, I consider their debt fully paid.

I also got a nice pair of shoes out of it too. 👍

Good luck with your extra storage 🤞

Yes.

Yep, in my experience hard drives will let you erase an encrypted partition exactly the same as an unencrypted one

The part that gets tricky is trying resize an encrypted partition because the contents need to be read
