Android will no longer call slow chargers 'fast,' but only on Pixel 9 so far (www.androidauthority.com)

The Google Pixel 9 has a higher threshold for fast charging, so slow chargers won’t show “charging rapidly” on the lock screen.

Ideally it would just show us the nominal charging rate, as negotiated via the USB power delivery protocol. The OS has this information, but last I checked it was impossible to directly access from userspace. Apps like AccuBattery just monitor the battery usage over time to estimate it.

I can see the power that the battery is being charged with in Dev Check,

However, I think its the power of the battery being charged and not the power that is going through the cables.

I wish they would just show you the actual charge rate like electric cars do. Eg “20w” for 20 watts

I think most custom ROMs do this. Sad it’s not an option on stock.
